I looked up the artist, Peter Max, and he actually creates some pretty cool work. Maybe he was going for a minimalist thing here or something, I urge people to google him to see the difference

@TheJayJay I guess this could also be a message about how you don't always need to be at your absolute 100% best to get results, because this is clearly not the man's best work but it still got accepted

Yeah, but you better already be really good + have a widespread positive good reputation, before you can be all modern, successfull, "progressive" and minimalistic with a piece of crap piece of art like that.
Shit like this happens all the time. People are blown away, when a master of some kinda art makes something, looking so simple, you'd think the toddler that's you little niece could make something just like that (wich it probably could). Its kinda like that one South-Park episode, where the gang writes up the most dumbass story, filled with profanities, just for the heck of it, but the masses of people think it is on some spiritualy deep kind of level.
